Florence is a city in the Lauderdale County of the state of Alabama. This county seat of Alabama has a population of 36,721. It occupies a total area of 25 square miles. Tourists throng Florence to take part in the W.C. Handy Music Festival and the Renaissance Faire that take place in summer and autumn respectively. The city is home to one of the most popular universities of the state of Alabama, the University of North Alabama. This was originally founded in 1830 as LaGrange College.
